This project is about breaking the rules of classic design and the moral issues about death. Funeral ashes are compacted to be used in a last barbecue. In Mexico the funeral ritual brings more positive vibes than in Europe. Associating death with a party is mostly a matter of culture. More than a packaging this project is an experimentation which push the limits of what we can design. The word barbecue associated to funeral helps to reconsider the status of the objects, their context and propose a more optimistic vision of death. Set of 100 paper boxes. Aches re-compacted. As a newbie in this district, all i knew about Peckham before coming in, was the fact it was supposed to be a dangerous zone. Throught the lens of the medias my vision of this zone has deteriorated . After living there for few days this is not what i'm feeling. So the idea is maybe to disturb this system who show this district as a kind of ghetto and an unpleasant place. Chris Garbutt and Benoit Defleurian encouraged me to paint some more spaces within the agency, we decided to paint the toilets as they were more of an un-expected place but also somewhere everybody visits. I didn't want to create just a mural but something that would drive people to save energy and switch off the lights. I have been inspired by the elements around the bar to find color skemes and by the space to bluid the shapes, creating two areas: one for chilling, the other one for partying. The idea was to give a strong identity to the club, graphics that could also be seen as a real spacial experimentation. I used the owl which is also their logo. Back in Paris, here are the pictures. Made for the "Begining of the end of the world" first fanzine swap exhibition in Hong Kong organised by future industries. Each participant has been asked to produce a piece, mine is inspired by what life leaves on our skin through our adventures. I collected during two weeks pictures and stories from my friends and put them inside a fanzine in the last two days before the exhibition, as a memorial. We still alive. participants had to choose a beat, invent a creative dance, then send a video of it on coke zero's youtube channel. I made 8 different t-shirts for coca cola zero, referring to the dances and playing with the graphic identity of each bands trough illustrations and typeface treatments. As well as posters, bespoke handpainted artworks will also appear directly on walls in London. For Giusti, they’re ‘a lovely return to fresh and simple things.’ CHI creative team Matt Collier and Wayne Robinson were inspired by ‘ghost signs’ – the faded old advertisements and shop signs still visible on the side of old buildings in cities and towns around the country. ‘There are loads dotted around town if you look hard enough,’ says Collier. Although Giusti is passionate about digital advertising, he loves that this campaign is so simple and traditional, and not a web link in sight. Using ‘old world’ techniques really make the posters stand out in a world of cluttered ‘high definition’ advertising.’ To create the authentic look, Collier and Robinson commissioned a series of specialist crafts people, including a hand-lettering artist to craft the type and an illustrator to replicate the old-fashioned style. ‘Putting all of the elements together into a design that street artists could place on real life walls was a really interesting process,’ says Collier. To be able to avoid what we learnt at school we first needed to follow the rules a lot in order to understand how they work. Forgetting these rules allows us to be more free, independent and most of the time it makes us feel unique. This poster is all about using the rules, the precision of the letter-press process, the choice of the paper and ink, the time spent on the work but it is also about destroying all of these things to make an unique object. February 2010 ________________________________________________________________________________________________ From screen to spray from Graphic Fury on Vimeo. I produced 'From screen to spray' a short movie about screenprint and graffiti. The title refers to the book 'From spray to screen' by Louis Halfen which shows infographic work from various french graffiti artists and illustrates the evolution from the spraycan to the computer screen. Here it is the opposite, the screen is the frame used to print a sweatshirt and the final step is the painting on the wall. The video shows a making-of, of the screen-printing and painting but also the combination of both disciplines. I made this video to introduce my design work and promote my website via the graffiti platform, I wanted to propose a different view of this culture through the lens of my camera. Once released on internet the video have been loaded 20 000 times the first week, published on the Montana Spraypaint Company main page and on several graffiti and design websites. I was asked by the New North Press to create a new work for their 'Reverting to type' exhibition featuring prints by letterpress print practitioners from around the world including Black Stone Press (Canada), Impost (Australia), Prensa La Libertad (Argentina), Yee Haw! Industries (USA), London based Mr Smith and more. I worked on a piece introducing the unique Flaxman type wood letters designed by Edward Wright, only available at Camberwell College of Arts. To increase curiosity about the typeface I created a poster with the alphabet partly censored, asking people to make a move to the workshop of the college to see the complete one. I also produced a 'making-of' video with my friend Archie Mcleish from Strawberrymilitia.com, showing the production. In a technologically-driven world lead by industrial mass production, using this process in a new way means that we are not only preserving its relevance, but also giving it new life. December 2010 ________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was asked by James Edgar, letterpress printer and David Conventon, head of graphic design from Camberwell College of Arts London to co-curate the 'Type Scale' exhibition. The show was exploring the topography of typography from the obsolete to the Avant-Garde. I designed and printed a map looking like poster for the event, showing a massive title which plays with the scale of the type. On the bottom right, gps coordinates are indicated. I also video-projected the name of the exhibition into the street to extend the space of the gallery and propose an alternative way to show typographic content. Set of 100 posters.
